Genesis 12:11-20
Trusting God in the Details
What were the causes to Abram’s failure?
I. Abram failed because he wasn't trusting God in the details.
Matt 6:25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?...32
your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
If God hasn't given it to you it's because you don't need it.
** Worry is sin
Phil 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
II. He wasn't trusting in God through prayer
What you're praying for is what you're trusting God with?
James 4:2 You do not have, because you do not ask God.
III. He wasn’t walking in truth
When we lie we are failing to believe that God will intervene.
V.13 Sarai was Abram’s half sister (Genesis 20:12)
God is just as opposed to deception as He is to lies
David Guzik, If you want to do something wrong, you can find some good reasons to do it. If you can’t think of the reasons yourself, the devil is happy to suggest them.
Think about what is right and not about what will work
Dwight D. Eisenhower, “The supreme quality for leadership is unquestionably integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a section gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office. If a man’s associates find him guilty of phoniness, if they find that he lacks forthright integrity, he will fail. His teaching and his actions must agree with each other.”
What were the results of his failure?
1. His failures affected others.
2. A poor witness of the LORD
In our failures God remains faithful
