The LORD was with Joseph

V.1 Potiphar- “Captain of the guard” -“Secret Service”
· “devoted to the sun.”

Is it possible to live a godly life in the midst of an ungodly culture?

V.2-6 “The LORD was with Joseph”- The theme

God working in Joseph. Joseph working with God

Gen 18:19 For I have chosen him, so that he will direct his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just, so that the LORD will bring about for Abraham what he has promised him."

Col 1:28 We proclaim him, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ. 29 To this end I labor, struggling with all his energy, which so powerfully works in me.

V.3 “His master saw that the LORD was with him”- His work showed that God was real

1 Tim 6:1 All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God's name and our teaching may not be slandered.

Titus 2:9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.

“Rudy! Rudy! Rudy!”

V.4-5 In time God blessed Joseph
12:3 All peoples on earth will be blessed through you.

Is your work blessed because of you?

V.6c “Joseph was well-built and handsome”

Beauty has a downside.

V.7 Women can be just as perverted as men.

V.8-10 “He refused”

2. All sin is an offense against God V.9
3. Joseph had a high view of marriage V.9
4. Refused to be around her V.10

James 4:7 Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.




V.12-16

2 Tim 2:22 Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Are you willing to lose everything to live a holy life?

V.17-19

Proverbs 18:17 The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him.
