The Fall of Creation

V.1 Serpent = Satan

Rev 12:9 The great dragon was hurled down-that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray.

•Ezekiel 28:13 Satan was in Eden.
•Ezekiel 28:14 Satan, before his fall, was an angel of the highest rank and prominence
•Isaiah 14 Satan’s desire to be equal to or greater than God

Why not Adam?

1. Maybe she was more vulnerable.
2. She didn’t receive the command directly from God but through Adam (Genesis 2:15-17).
3. Perhaps Adam didn’t do an effective job in communicating to Eve.

V.1 “He said to the woman”
If we reject the Bible as the word of God then we are liable to believe anything

V.2-3 Eve’s response.
•She doesn’t name the tree and she adds to God’s command

Take the time and effort to teach the truth

V.4-5 “God isn’t good.”

“your eyes will be opened”- fulfilled (Genesis 3:7).

V.6 Eve surrenders

1 John 2:16 For everything in the world-the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does-comes not from the Father but from the world.

Being deceived makes us no less guilty

1 Tim 2:14 it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.

•The guilt of Adam brings death (Romans 5:12, 1 Corinthians 15:22)

V.7 “made covering for themselves”

“Does this make me look guilty.”

Isa 64:6 All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;

V.8 A natural reaction

Repentance, not running, is the cure.

Heb 4:13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

V.9-11 God wants to draw not drive them

It is God’s kindness that leads us to repentance

V.12 Adam’s response to God’s loving confrontation

"For better or worse."

V.13 “What is this you have done?”

It’s your fault!

James 1:13 When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; 14 but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.

The devil made me do it!

1 Cor 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Are you content

Phil 4:11 I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want.

Do you trust in God’s loving goodness?

Heb 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."
