1. Raising of Jairus’daughter,
2. Garden of Gethsemane.
Chosen to be a witness
Deut 19:15 A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Peter’s testimony:
2 Peter 1:16 We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." 18 We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
V.3 “His clothes became dazzling white. Whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them.”
Matt 17:2 His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.
Luke 9:29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.
Post-resurrection descriptions
Matt 28:2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.
Rev 1:12 I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lampstands, 13 and among the lampstands was someone "like a son of man," dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. 14 His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire.
V.4 “Elijah and Moses who were talking with Jesus”
Let’s eavesdrop
Luke 9:29 As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning. 30 Two men, Moses and Elijah, 31 appeared in glorious splendor, talking with Jesus. They spoke about his departure, which he was about to bring to fulfillment at Jerusalem.

V.6 “Man, I didn’t know what I was saying!”
V.7 “appeared in a cloud”
Ex 16:10 While Aaron was speaking to the whole Israelite community, they looked toward the desert, and there was the glory of the LORD appearing in the cloud.

Slain in the spirit???
Matt 17:6 When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground, terrified.
“Listen”- word of affirmation and a word to be followed
V.8 “They no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus”
Moses = Law
Elijah = Prophets
Jesus is greater than both!
V.9 Only the resurrection puts Jesus’ life and especially His death into perspective
V.10 If it didn’t happen it wouldn’t be there.
V.11 “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?”
Mal 4:5 "See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse."
V.12-13 Reference to John the Baptist
Matt 11:11 I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it. 13 For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. 14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. 15 He who has ears, let him hear.
“This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!"
??How much time are you spending in the affirming truth of God’s Word??
